it was providential because i was having an "angry at the world" kind of day on monday when it came. it was also providential because staci said she's had this card for awhile and has never known who to give it to. until now. it's amazing how a little paper card decorated with fabric cut into the shape of africa and filled with sweet words from a friend can soften an angry heart, especially when there's an african proverb on the back that says:
hope is the pillar of the world.
such encouraging words to a mama-to-be who is desperately wanting to see her children's faces, while simultaneously grieving for all the children who need and deserve to have a family too. i never want to tire of saying that there are 150 million children in that very circumstance -- needing and deserving a family.
for both of these things, i have hope. i am hopeful that our referral is not a long way off and that i will see my children's faces soon. and i am also hopeful that more and more people will decide to act on behalf of those 150 million children -- through child sponsorship and other giving opportunities, foster care, or adoption.
isn't having hope so much better than being angry at the world?

oh sweet friend, the labor pains are getting closer! you'll know those babies soon! hold on to that hope!
ReplyDeleteyes yes yes! thanks for the quote, too. beautiful. i love reading your posts. :)
ReplyDeleteso much better than being angry at the world! that card is beautiful and i'm sure the words inside just made even more so!
ReplyDeleteYou can do it! Just know that your little ones are being held by God. It's so humbling. Honestly, since we received "The Call", I kind of forgot how long the wait for referrals were. I guess it's like for the joy set before you, you endure the pain and trials. :) My husband and I prayed for you and all of the other waiting families (and all of your kiddos).
ReplyDeleteyou're sweet :)
